Schneider Electric Unveils New Galaxy VXL UPS, Leading the Innovation in Megawatt-Scale UPS 28 / 02 / 2025

Recently, Schneider Electric, a global leader in industrial technology, officially launched the new Galaxy VXL UPS. This three-phase UPS, featuring high density, modularity, scalability, and redundant design with a power range of 500-1250 kW (400V), once again demonstrates Schneider Electric's leading position and forward-thinking capabilities in the industry through its excellent space utilization, leading power density, and outstanding safety performance.

The Galaxy VXL UPS boasts a maximum single-unit power of 1.25 MW and a compact design with a footprint of only 1.2m², breaking the industry's limit for power modules in 3U space and achieving a higher output of 125kW. This innovative design not only saves construction costs for users but also provides more space for IT loads. Additionally, based on its scalable modular design, the Galaxy VXL UPS supports parallel operation of up to four UPS units, achieving a power output of 5MW within just 4.8m² of space. Customers can flexibly and swiftly add power modules according to their current and future development needs, effectively reducing capital expenditures.

In terms of operation and maintenance, the Galaxy VXL UPS supports front-access operation and maintenance, allowing for wall-mounted installation without the need for rear clearance, significantly improving space utilization. Furthermore, the product is compatible with lithium batteries, saving 70% of total space. Through innovative airflow organization and design optimization, adopting a front-intake and top-exhaust cooling method eliminates the need for additional top-exhaust components, further saving rear space and enhancing spatial flexibility.

While reaching new heights in power density and space optimization, the Galaxy VXL UPS also achieves higher efficiency through Schneider Electric's multiple patented technologies. Users can select different modes to strike a balance between high availability and green energy savings. Specifically, the overall efficiency can reach 97.5% in double-conversion mode, and the system efficiency can reach up to 99% in Eco mode.

To address the cooling challenges posed by its high-density design, Schneider Electric has adopted a dynamic airflow cooling design, enabling the Galaxy VXL to reduce heat dissipation by 20% under full-load conditions and significantly improving cooling efficiency. Combined with advanced thermal simulation technology and testing, the Galaxy VXL further optimizes the cooling channels and internal layout design. The patented baffle design ensures strict separation of hot and cold airflows within the cabinet, ensuring a more efficient cooling path and thereby safeguarding cooling safety under high-load conditions. Thanks to its outstanding cooling performance, the Galaxy VXL UPS demonstrates excellent environmental adaptability and can operate stably within a temperature range of 0 to 40°C without power factor derating, and even in extreme environments of 41 to 50°C, it can achieve the same high performance under certain load conditions.

Moreover, the Galaxy VXL UPS showcases Schneider Electric's strong professional capabilities in operation and maintenance safety. The product supports safe and reliable Live Swap functionality, which has received the world's first Live Swap certification from TÜV Rheinland Group. Users can replace modules while the system is running, effectively ensuring the safety of operators and load equipment while minimizing maintenance downtime and maintaining business continuity. The Schneider Electric Galaxy VXL UPS is designed to be EcoStruxure Ready, enabling users to remotely monitor equipment operation anytime, anywhere, and receive round-the-clock remote expert online services. Based on predictive maintenance recommendations and intelligent services, it ensures the continuity and continuous performance optimization of critical equipment.

Zhu Wenqin, Senior Vice President and Head of Critical Power Business in China at Schneider Electric, stated that with the surge in demand for large-scale infrastructure from enterprises, the efficiency and reliability of computing power infrastructure have become key engines driving the development of the digital economy and artificial intelligence. Schneider Electric is committed to creating more sustainable, efficient, and resilient technical solutions. The newly launched Galaxy VXL UPS is fully compatible with various AI scenario applications, making it an ideal choice for users to succeed in the AI era.

Xu Dongping, Product Market Manager of Critical Power Business at Schneider Electric, also emphasized that as the creator of the world's first three-phase UPS and the pioneer of the modular concept, Schneider Electric not only safeguards power safety at every moment but also leads each era with innovation. As an important part of Schneider Electric's end-to-end AI-ready data center solution, the Galaxy VXL UPS has achieved triple breakthroughs in space efficiency, density limits, and safety performance, setting a new benchmark for future innovation and development in the UPS industry.
