250 kHz I2C, 12 MHz SPI I2C/SPI Interface Device—The NI USB‑8451 is a master interface for connecting and communicating with integrated circuit (I2C), system management bus (SMBus), and serial peripheral interface (SPI) devices. The USB‑8451 features a plug-and-play USB connection, making it a portable solution for communicating with consumer electronics or integrated circuits. It also includes eight general-purpose digital I/O lines that can be used in a variety of applications, such as configuring the address of an I2C device or toggling an LED. The USB‑8451 can be mounted closer to the I2C/SPI device than a PCI interface, which reduces the length of the I2C bus and minimizes noise issues. In addition, the interface does not require an external power supply to provide +5 V and GND voltages to power circuits.
