Emerson’s AspenTech and TotalEnergies Deepen Strategic Collaboration to Drive Energy Transition with Digital Technologies 24 / 07 / 2025

A Long-Term Partnership Between Energy Giant and Industrial Technology Leader

As a global leader in automation, Emerson continues to empower digital transformation in the energy sector through its AspenTech business unit’s innovative technologies in industrial software and data management. TotalEnergies, a century-old French energy giant with operations spanning over 130 countries across the entire oil, gas, and renewable energy value chain, has long prioritized sustainability and energy transition as core strategic pillars. Building on nearly three decades of technical collaboration since the 1990s, this strategic partnership marks a milestone in advancing energy industry transformation amid the digital revolution.

Two-Year Deployment Plan Launches to Build Industrial Data Hub
Under the agreement, Emerson will deploy its flagship product—the AspenTech Inmation™ industrial data architecture—across TotalEnergies’ global industrial sites within two years. The platform will collect and process millions of real-time operational data points, establishing a secure, unified data access channel while integrating Emerson’s advanced process control solutions to provide foundational infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Namita Shah, President of TotalEnergies’ OneTech, emphasized: “Digital technologies are pivotal to achieving a more efficient and sustainable energy future. Advanced solutions like Inmation will optimize operations, reduce emissions, and position data as the cornerstone of industrial excellence.” Vincent Servello, President of Emerson’s AspenTech Business Unit, noted that the collaboration extends a legacy of technological synergy, with AI and industrial data architecture accelerating TotalEnergies’ sustainability mission.

AI-Driven Operational Upgrades Set Industry Transformation Paradigm
The partnership focuses not only on short-term efficiency gains but also on long-term data value extraction. Through real-time anomaly detection, energy consumption optimization, and AI-powered decision support, TotalEnergies aims to comprehensively enhance operational safety, environmental performance, and energy efficiency. Notably, Inmation technology is a critical component of Emerson’s Project Beyond—the industry’s first software-defined digital platform for operational technology (OT), designed to redefine industrial operations through the “Boundless Automation℠” concept.

Industry analysts highlight that this collaboration provides TotalEnergies with a blueprint for digital transformation while signaling that the energy sector is accelerating toward a data- and AI-driven new era. As technologies like AspenTech Inmation™ gain traction, more enterprises may adopt similar models, leveraging digital integration to achieve green and efficient development goals, collectively advancing the global energy system toward net-zero emissions.
